There are over 23 million widows facing human right violation in Africa alone and living in extreme poverty. This is more than the population of Belgium and Greece. In most of the communities, if a woman’s husband dies, she mostly looses everything. Not only the man she loves, but her home, her possessions, her dignity, her freedom and her place in the society.
As the world struggles with covid-19 economic challenges, early estimate suggest that women will suffer more setback almost nearly twice than men and widows are the most at risk. If we empower the vulnerable widows in Africa with measures like training, business financial support and network opportunities to make money for their families and give them future to look forward to, this widows will not only be able to lift themselves , but everyone else around them.
