WELCOME TO BETTER LIFE FOR RURAL AFRICAN WIDOWS : Dedicated to widows’ progress

The Felix King’s ‘Better life for rural African women’ focuses on the relegation of rural African women, affecting national and community development and the invisibility of positive actions towards causes favoring rural African women. The objective of scheme is to reduce the burden of widowhood and single-motherhood in rural African countries by providing income-generating opportunities in agriculture , cottage industry and education training and networks for women.

FOCUS AREA : AGRICULTURE, NUTRITION, EDUCATION

OPERATIONAL MODEL;
Participating women are encouraged to unite under the club 5000 platform which serves as a cooperative club (meeting group/society) to gain access seed capital grants and extension services and technology

AGRICULTURE
We are creating strategies that mobilized rural women farmers to produce affordable food crops that has nutritional and national development values such as Cassava for starch production, grain produce, palm oil, maize, etc. The program introduced basic farm and mechanized inputs such as cutlasses, wheel barrows, and subsidized tractor for hire service. Food processing machines are also made available to women farmers. In addition, women farmers are supported with farmland leasing financing.

Education
Our strategy to increase literacy and the agriculture know-how of rural women is through the adult literacy programs tailored to functional and vocational subject areas such as dress making, baking, financial management, etc

Advocacy
Sustaining the dignity of womanhood through liberty project. Liberty project mobilizes different stake holders for the ‘abolishment of widows maltreatment’ in different communities were obnoxious practices are still very prevalent. This is done through legislative palling, community advocacy and re- orientation of the conscience of the custodians of these custom and tradition. This strategy, we believe could play a major role in abolishing those obnoxious practices in communities that prejudice against widows and women. Conferences, seminars and workshops are organized on a regular basis.
